Law Clerk
Fast paced immigration law firm has an opening for a Law Clerk position.
Responsibilities include drafting pleadings, motions, appeals and other legal documents with the ability to identify viable issues in the factual setting and appropriate legal claims or defenses for the issues relevant to immigration practice; preparing briefs or arguments through knowledge in legal principle, public policy, legislative history, consequences for judicial decisions, current law and the merits of each case for review, approval, and use by attorney; interviewing clients to gather information and generally explain how law can be applied to clients' situation, course of action to be taken and strength of each case; conducting investigative research such as finding the clients' previous immigration history, its consequences and future course of action; researching and analyzing law source/legal authorities and check the current status of major case laws with an in-depth knowledge of major case laws in the past, be able to differentiate the holdings of each case from dicta, identify the scope of each decision, its applicability and its effect to other past case laws; maintaining client's case file and case correspondence; and analyzing the merits of each case by identifying the elements of cause of action and propose legal actions to be taken by attorneys.
Education- Bachelor’s Degree in Law/Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree or its equivalent.
