Just last month the Justice Department reached a settlement with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). AAP is an organization consisting of over 60,000 pediatricians based in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
AAP was allegedly allowing illegal postings on its www.PedJobs.org. As the Justice Department uncovered, AAP was supposedly permitting postings for doctors, nurses, and other professionals to be limited to U.S. citizens and specific visa holders. However, these job positions should have been open to authorized immigrants as well.
Under the settlement agreement, AAP has agreed to monitor its job postings to ensure that work authorized individuals are treated equally. AAP will also train its personnel about its non-discrimination responsibilities under the INA, and to provide reports to the Justice Department for three years.
The Justice Department and AAP have agreed to settle the dispute for $22,000 in civil penalties
